Foundation Research

The ASCRS Foundation sponsors an annual program awarding ten $5,000 ophthalmic research grants.

ASCRS was founded by young, enterprising ophthalmologists and the ASCRS Research Grant Program is a way to carry on that tradition by furthering new research into all areas of eye disease and treatment.

Grant proposals will be accepted from September 1, 2007 through January 31, 2008. The Foundation’s Grant Committee will review all submitted proposals and select the ten finalists. Awards will be made in March of each year. Grants will be limited to one grant per approved applicant per year. Grant recipients are encouraged to present their research findings in the form of a paper or poster at a future ASCRS Annual Symposium.

The foundation’s research program is designed to provide a critical first infusion of funding for those looking to explore a great new idea. The program is open to practicing ophthalmologists and those still in training.

History has shown ophthalmologists to be among the most inventive and dynamic individuals in medicine, and the ASCRS Foundation’s research program hopes to foster that creative thinking for the betterment of ophthalmology and its patients.

Those wishing to apply should complete a grant application form before January 31st.
