MACRA: Top Tips to Help Ophthalmic Practices Succeed

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) changes the way Medicare incorporates quality measurement into payments and develops incentives for participation in alternative payment models. Physicians choosing to stay in Medicare fee-for-service are required to participate in the new Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).

ASCRS•ASOA joined with our colleagues in the medical community to advocate for changes to CMS’ MACRA proposed rule. Following that advocacy, CMS made several changes in the final rule that ASCRS•ASOA believes position our members to do well in the program in the first year—2019, based on 2017 reporting. Use these top tips to ensure your practice can succeed by avoiding a penalty and possibly earning a bonus. Each week, we'll update this page with a new "Tip of the Week".

Full details about MACRA and MIPS are available at the ASCRS•ASOA MACRA Center.
