CMS Extends 2015 Meaningful Use Attestation Deadline to March 11, 2016

This week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it would extend the attestation deadline for the Medicare and Medicaid Meaningful Use/EHR Incentive Programs to Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:59 pm ET, from the original deadline of Monday, February 29.

As a reminder, eligible professionals may select a reporting period of at least any continuous 90 days from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015.

All providers who have EHR and were planning to attest for Meaningful Use this year have the option to fill out a hardship exemption. If providers fill out a hardship exemption and also successfully attest for Meaningful Use, their successful attestation will be counted. Eligible professionals have until March 15, 2016 to submit their application. CMS’ announcement did not change the application deadline for hardship exemptions.
