Earlier this week, ASCRS, in conjunction with the Alliance of Specialty medicine, sent a letter in support of H.R. 1215, the “Protecting Access to Care Act,” to Rep. Steve King (R-IA), who introduced the bill in late February. As we have reported, H.R. 1215 would reform medical litigation laws in order to reduce the costly practice of defensive medicine with the goal of saving taxpayers billions of dollars while increasing access to healthcare. It was reported that a vote on the legislation would occur this week, but due to recent events, the vote has been pushed to next week at the earliest. We will keep you updated.
