ASCRS and the Alliance of Specialty Medicine Urge Members of Congress to Support Permanent Withdrawal of Flawed Part B Drug Pricing Demonstration

This week, ASCRS joined with the Alliance of Specialty Medicine in a letter to all members of the House of Representatives asking them to sign onto a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, MD, advocating for a full withdrawal of the currently delayed Part B drug pricing demonstration. The letter—led by Reps. Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN), John Shimkus (R-IL), and Erik Paulsen (R-MN)—thanks Secretary Price for his previous opposition to the implementation of the Part B drug demonstration in 2016, which would have changed the reimbursement formula for all Part B drugs administered in the physician’s office nationwide, and recommends that he permanently withdraw the demonstration. The Alliance’s letter urging members of the House to sign the letter to Secretary Price cites our continued opposition to the demonstration, as well as opposition to CMS’ mandatory demonstrations. We support testing new payment models in targeted and voluntary demonstrations, rather than implementing untested mandatory nationwide demonstrations. We will keep you updated.
