Open Payments System Now Back Online and Physicians Have Until September 8 to Review Data; AMA Launches Survey to Track Physicians’ Experience with Open Payments System
As you know, ASCRS and the medical community have sent letters and continually expressed the need for changes to the Open Payments program to allow providers additional time to register for the system and review their data and to develop a fairer dispute process for eligible professionals.
In addition, the Open Payments system has just been put back online after being unavailable for ten days of system maintenance while CMS addressed concerns raised by physicians attempting to review data. Due to the system outage, CMS has stated that they will extend the physician review period until September 8. CMS still intends to release all data to the public on September 30.
AMA has launched a survey this week to gather information about physicians’ experiences with registering in the Open Payments system and reviewing their data. Please take a moment and complete the survey if you have registered for the Open Payment system and attempted to review your data.
