U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Releases Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) 2015 Work Plan 
On Friday, October 31, HHS released its FY 2015 work plan , which will provide the OIG’s planned reviews and activities during the current fiscal year and beyond. The report states that the OIG will review Medicare incentive payments for providers who adopted EHRs and received payments for successfully attesting to meaningful use.
The report states in the “Other Providers: Billing and Payments” section, that it will specifically review ophthalmologists for inappropriate and questionable billing. The OIG will review Medicare claims data to identify potentially inappropriate and questionable billing for ophthalmologists during 2012. They will also determine the locations and specialties within ophthalmology of providers with questionable billing.
