Home > Urgent Action Needed: Contact your Legislators to Repeal the SGR
Over the past week, ASCRS•ASOA members have sent hundreds of letters to members of Congress urging an immediate repeal and replacement of the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR)—but we still need your help to make the SGR history.
The current lame duck session of Congress is expected to end shortly, so if you have not yet contacted your legislators, please use the American College of Surgeons’ toll free advocacy line to call your representative and senators at 1-877-996-4464.
You will be asked to enter your home ZIP code and will then be connected to your representative and senators' offices. Once you are connected, tell them you are a constituent and leave your name, phone number, and address, along with the suggested message:
“As an ophthalmologist and as your constituent, I ask you to urge Congressional leaders to bring to the floor and enact H.R. 4015/S. 2000, The SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014, before the end of this year.”
Thank you to all members who have already contacted their legislators. Your efforts demonstrate how important this issue is to physicians and Medicare patients alike.
In addition to our members’ grassroots efforts, ASCRS and the Alliance of Specialty Medicine have been meeting with House and Senate leadership directly this week to urge them to complete action on this issue.
If you need assistance sending your message to your legislators, please contact Allison Madson, manager of PAC and grassroots, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 703-591-2220.
