CMS Extends Deadline for ASCs to Submit Online Data and Develops Tools to Assist with ASC Web-Based Quality Reporting Measures
Today, CMS extended the deadline for ASCs to submit online data from August 15, 2015 to September 30, 2015 for the following ASC Quality Reporting (ASCQR) Measures:
• ASC-6: Safe Surgery Checklist Use
• ASC-7: ASC Facility Volume Data on Selected ASC Surgical Procedures
• ASC-8: Influenza Vaccination Coverage among Healthcare Personnel
• ASC-9: Endoscopy/Polyp Surveillance: Appropriate Follow-up Interval for Normal Colonoscopy in Average Risk Patients
• ASC-10: Endoscopy/Polyp Surveillance: Colonoscopy Interval for Patients with a History of Adenomatous Polyps – Avoidance of Inappropriate Use
Facilities that have not completed their online data submission will receive notification of this deadline extension via fax. The fax will outline which requirements of the ASCQR Program must be completed to receive the annual payment update scheduled to begin January 1, 2016. As a reminder, ASCs that do not meet this deadline will receive a 2 percent reduction in their CY 2016 Medicare payment update.
This week, CMS released new tools to help providers check their reporting status for web-based ASC Quality Reporting (ASCQR) measures. To check data submission status for ASC-6: Safe Surgery Checklist Use, ASC-7: ASC Facility Volume Data on Selected ASC Surgical Procedures, ASC-9: Endoscopy/Polyp Surveillance: Appropriate Follow-up Interval, and ASC-10: Endoscopy/Polyp Surveillance: Colonoscopy Interval for Patients with a History of Adenomatous Polyps—Avoidance of Inappropriate Use, providers can enter their National Provider Identifier (NPI) into the search function in the Web-based Status Listing .
To check data submission for ASC-8: Influenza Vaccination Coverage among Healthcare Personnel, enter your facility’s CMS Certification Number (CCN) into the search function in the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Status Listing to determine if the facility is enrolled in NHSN and see if your facility’s data have been entered completely. To find your facility’s CNN, use the CNN Lookup Tool .
ASCs can also access Facility-Specific Reports through QualityNet that include performance data on the measure undergoing a dry run this year—ASC-12: Facility Seven-Day Risk-Standardized Hospital Visit Rate after Outpatient Colonoscopy. Directions on how to access these reports and other information about the dry run are available at www.qualitynet.org .
