Limbal stem cell deficiency causes conjunctival overgrowth on the cornea, so cataract surgery can be challenging in these patients due to limited visibility. However, with precise technique, phacoemulsification can succeed, especially in bilateral cases requiring fast visual recovery or when access to an allogenic transplant is limited.
