The authors have devised the FREE (Full-through Reverse External Engagement) technique, a modification of Canabrava’s technique that allows surgeons to safely perform IOL scleral fixation without vitrectomy or infusion systems. This method utilizes 6-0 prolene, preloaded 4-closed haptic IOL, 25-mm (1-inch) 30G needle, and viscoelastic material.
