2023 ASCRS Annual Meeting Special Events

New and returning special events and features at the ASCRS Annual Meeting

Fairfax, Va. – February 27, 2023 – The value of the ASCRS Annual Meeting is first and foremost its physician-designed education, which this year is approved for up to 32 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. In addition to the education that regular attendees have come to expect, there are some new and returning special events and features.

“The ASCRS Annual Meeting sets itself apart with its education specifically focused on the needs of anterior segment ophthalmologists, but there is so much more in and around that education throughout the meeting that makes this experience so unique,” said ASCRS Past President Richard Hoffman, MD.

Here are some of the special features to expect at the 2023 ASCRS Annual Meeting.

ASCRS ASOA Party for a Purpose: The ASCRS ASOA Party for a Purpose (May 5, 8:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m.) is the social event to kick off the meeting. The second annual Party for a Purpose will feature a night of fun and philanthropy, benefiting the ASCRS Foundation. It is open to all registered attendees of the ASCRS Annual Meeting, the ASOA Annual Meeting, exhibitors, and their guests.

Bonus to ASCRS Subspecialty Day: ASCRS Subspecialty Day (Friday, May 5) features three dedicated CME programs—Refractive Day, Cornea Day, and Glaucoma Day—approved for up to 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. This year, a bonus, non-CME program will be open to Subspecialty Day registrants: the first-ever Digital Day. Digital Day, sponsored by the Digital Ophthalmic Society, will be centered around novel, technology-driven solutions with functional clinical integration. Digital Day will identify the essentials to provide surgeons with advanced topic lectures, protocol development, and practice education covering the latest innovations in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital visualization, and precision medicine.

Dedicated YES Programming & Engagement: ASCRS, in its commitment to the education of young eye surgeons (YES), has specific events and programming for YES members. YES skills transfer labs take place Friday, May 5, with a whole day of YES programming Saturday, May 6, beginning with a YES kick-off and followed by symposia, a networking lunch, and more. YES events continue throughout the meeting with Mentor Meetups, YES Connect Industry Dinners, an industry-sponsored YES Happy Hour, and more.

Exhibit Hall Elements: More than 200 exhibiting companies will be featured in the ASCRS Exhibit Hall. Returning this year is the popular ASCRS Tap Room, which serves as a causal meet-up spot as well as a space for industry-led education. New this year in the Exhibit Hall is the ASCRS Wellness Lounge, which is a space for attendees to take a break and recharge. Complimentary professional headshots will be available May 6–8, in the Exhibit Hall, in addition to ASCRS-provided lunches (Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7).
