2024 Party for a Purpose Raises $100K
Thank you to everyone who donated to the 2024 ASCRS ASOA Party for a Purpose either onsite at the in-person party in Boston, Massachusetts, or online. This event was a success and raised $65,400 plus a generous $35,000 match from Alcon for a grand total of $100,400 to support the ASCRS Foundation.
These funds specifically benefit the sight-restoring work of the ASCRS Foundation’s Operation Sight program.
It’s always the right time to give the gift of sight. Learn more about giving opportunities to the ASCRS Foundation here.

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of ASCRS
The 50th anniversary of ASCRS (1974–2024) kicked off at the 2024 ASCRS Annual Meeting and will continue as a yearlong celebration that will recognize the founders and early members, the successes of the Society as it has supported its member ophthalmologists and the specialty as a whole, and the innovative spirit that developed over the years and will continue to advance the education, advocacy, and philanthropy of anterior segment surgery.
Take a look at the history of ASCRS in the new 50th Anniversary Timeline. For an even more in-depth history, read through 50 Years of ASCRS 1974–2024: Celebrating trailblazers, innovators, and educators in ophthalmology.
Members Share What ASCRS Means for Them
In honor of the 50th anniversary of ASCRS, member ophthalmologists from the 50 states are sending in their perspectives on the Society, its impact on their career, and its influence on the specialty as a whole.
Stay tuned each week from April 2024 through April 2025 for a new perspective. Here’s the first message from Michael Greenwood, MD, in North Dakota.
