Foundation Seeks Volunteers for Patients in Need |
The ASCRS Foundation’s Operation Sight, a program that connects uninsured or underinsured patients in need of cataract surgery in the U.S. with a comprehensive network of charitable volunteer surgeons and practices, is looking for volunteers to meet patient needs in local communities, particularly in Texas, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, Kansas, and Georgia." There are more than two dozen unmatched patients in need of cataract surgery due to a lack of Operation Sight volunteers in these geographic areas. Some of these patients have been on the waitlist for months. They are desperate to regain their sight and return to the workforce. If you are an ophthalmologist practicing one of these six states and are interested in learning more about volunteering with Operation Sight, click here or contact Rachel Goode, ASCRS Foundation Program Manager, at [email protected]. “The joy I receive from watching these patients and seeing the positive impact I have on their lives reminds me why I chose to get into medicine. … Being involved with Operation Sight won’t slow you down. In fact, I believe it will make you love your job even more." —Reena Patel, MD, Operation Sight Volunteer, Wichita, Kansas |
