ASCRS Advocacy Action Alert
If you haven’t already, ASCRS Government Relations would like members to contact their representatives and ask them to pass the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025.
This bipartisan legislation stops the 2.8% Medicare physician reimbursement cut that took place on January 1, adds an additional 6.62% to the Medicare Conversion Factor effective April 1 through December 31, eliminates the entire existing reduction, reflects inflationary pressures, and accounts for the lower Conversion Factor in the first quarter of 2025.
Please log on to the ASCRS Legislative Alert Center to contact your legislators using the provided template and talking points. You may use the ASCRS Legislative Alert system to email your legislators’ Washington, D.C., offices. It’s encouraged that you edit portions of the provided message to add personal information about your practice.
Thank you for taking action!
Submit a Nomination for ASCRS Foundation Operation Sight Volunteer of the Year
The ASCRS Foundation’s network of 800 volunteer surgeons has helped provide nearly 10,000 cataract surgeries for those in need through the Operation Sight program.
Please take a moment to recognize one of these exceptional volunteers by submitting a nomination for the ASCRS Foundation Operation Sight Volunteer of the Year. The Volunteer of the Year will be recognized at the 2025 ASCRS Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, California.
The Volunteer of the Year demonstrates outstanding dedication to patients in need, promotes accessibility of cataract care, and actively engages in local philanthropic initiatives.
Nominees for this award can also include those not currently registered with the Operation Sight network. Self-nominations are accepted.
Find information about submission criteria and submit a nomination for consideration by Friday, February 28.
Shape the Financial Future of Ophthalmology
Bringing ophthalmology forward successfully into the next decade will take the best minds in the business of healthcare working together.
Strategize and execute a vision for the sustained financial health of ophthalmology at the new SightLine at ASCRS meeting, taking place Thursday, April 24 ahead of the 2025 ASCRS Annual Meeting.
SightLine at ASCRS is an initiative of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators where attendees will gain an understanding of the challenges affecting all areas of commercial ophthalmology and participate in the discussion and action that will ultimately lead to stronger financial performance in this space.
In order to forge a successful financial future for ophthalmology, this program needs input from all stakeholders in commercial ophthalmology—industry, physicians, and administrators are encouraged to attend.
Catch Up on These Special Member Messages
In honor of the 50th anniversary of ASCRS, member ophthalmologists from the 50 states are sending in their perspectives on the Society, sharing its impact on their career, and talking about its influence on the specialty as a whole.
Stay tuned each week through April 2025 for a new perspective.
This week’s perspectives come from Greg Smith, MD, of Delaware. Watch his video here.
