What’s New at ASCRS 2024

Here’s what’s new and what you’ll miss if you don’t register for the 2024 ASCRS Annual Meeting taking place in Boston, Massachusetts, April 5–8.

  • ASCRS on the Main Stage: ASCRS Main Stage events recognize the early pioneers of ophthalmology as well as those continuing the legacy today with preeminent named lectures and keynote speakers, innovative symposia, and meaningful awards and honors.
  • 50th Anniversary of ASCRS: In 1974, a small group of ophthalmologists, passionate about intraocular lenses, created a society to serve as a welcome space for discussion, innovation, and advocacy of these implants. Be inspired by five decades of ASCRS history and part of defining the future throughout the meeting with special features like a cake cutting, time machine, and more.
  • Specific to 2024: Check out the What’s New page on the Annual Meeting website to find the new keynote speakers, content from the new Digital Clinical Committee, and more that will be onsite at ASCRS 2024.

It’s been a decade since the ASCRS Annual Meeting last came to Boston. A lot has changed in the city recently, so prepare to be introduced to a new Boston, especially around the convention center. Programming from the Digital Clinical Committee

The new ASCRS Digital Clinical Committee, chaired by John Hovanesian, MD, will have several educational opportunities for attendees at the upcoming ASCRS Annual Meeting (April 5–8 in Boston, Massachusetts).

  • "Glaucoma and AI" at ASCRS Glaucoma Day
  • "Introducing the Latest Digital Tools for Planning and Performing Cataract Surgery," a sponsored symposium
  • "How to: YES Advocating for Digital Change in Your Practice," an ASCRS roundtable Discussion
  • "Telemedicine and the Metaverse," an ASCRS roundtable discussion
  • "Navigating Real-World Obstacles to Digital Transformation in Your Practice," a non-CME symposium

The ASCRS Digital Clinical Committee, formed in 2023, focuses on education in the digital space that impacts various ophthalmic specialties, including technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, digital visualization, precision medicine, telehealth, surgical guidance, and more.

 

 

Additional CME Programs at ASCRS 2024

Two new, never-done-before topics will be brought to the podium for the ASCRS 2024 Satellite CME Program. These 1-hour, deep dives into specific topic areas expand your expertise in these subject areas! Each Satellite CME Program is approved for up to 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM.

Register for the ASCRS Annual Meeting and add these Satellite CME Programs to your schedule. 

 

Upgrade Your Annual Meeting Experience

The Skills Transfer Labs at the ASCRS Annual Meeting are the largest, in terms of size and scope, for the anterior segment surgeon in the U.S. There is still time to add a hands-on opportunity and round out your Annual Meeting experience, but seats are filling up.

  • Register for the ASCRS Annual Meeting and select the Skills Transfer Lab(s) you would like to add to your registration. 
  • Already registered? To add a Skills Transfer Lab to your schedule, click here, select “Access My Registration, and log in with your badge # and email address. From there, click the orange “Upgrade” button and follow the prompts to find and add a Skills Transfer Lab experience.

Don’t wait to upgrade your experience. Some of these ASCRS Skills Transfer Labs are once-a-year opportunity only available in person at the ASCRS Annual Meeting!
