ASCRS Welcomes New Director of Government Relations

Mark Cribben, JD, brings decades of experience

Fairfax, Va. – February 21, 2023 –The American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) is pleased to announce Mark Cribben, JD, as the new Director of Government Relations. Mr. Cribben has more than 20 years of leadership and healthcare advocacy experience.

“ASCRS will benefit greatly from the experience Mark brings to the table,” ASCRS Executive Director Steve Speares said. “With advocacy being one of the three main pillars of ASCRS, alongside education and philanthropy, Mark, as a voice for our membership, will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between physicians and policy makers to protect the profession of ophthalmology.”

Mr. Cribben is a native of Washington, D.C. He earned his Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in American Government from the University of Virginia. Mr. Cribben has a strong record of effective advocacy strategy, coalition formation and management, PAC creation and management, and a deep understanding of the legislative process.
